Mudéjar, ham and truffle

Teruel, the city of Mudéjar art, part of which has been recognized by Unesco as a World Heritage Site, ”Los Amantes” and the main producing province of Tuber Melanosporum (black truffle). 
 

10:30 · Visit to Manjares de la Tierra

Manjares de la Tierra specializes in growing, harvesting and selling Black Truffles (Tuber melanosporum) and to a lesser extent Tuber Aestivum.

Based in the village of Sarrión, the heart of Spain’s and Europe’s truffle region, where the rugged soil and warm, temperate climate provide the perfect conditions for truffle cultivation.

They have fresh, frozen and preserved truffles, as well as truffle products including
brandy truffles, truffle slices in extra virgin olive oil, black truffle extra virgin olive oil and a variety of delicious condiments and spreads. Frozen or preserved truffles are ideal for restaurants and hotels looking to consistently offer truffles year-round. 

We will taste some of the best products with truffle and discover the secrets of the harvesting procedures at the main black truffle village in Europe.

13:00 · Visit to Jamones Pastor

We will visit Jamones Pastor curing facilities, located in Rubielos de Mora at 929 meters height. 

Jamones Pastor is the only DO Teruel Ham and one of the only five Hams in the world made exclusively with sea salt.

PASTOR ham is 100% natural and artisan, made exclusively with sea salt from the Mediterranean Sea, without nitrifiers or additives, colorings or preservatives, which means that each ham has high values ​​of vitamins B1, B6 and B12, as well as natural antioxidants. The hams have a low salt content (0.2g per 100g), without glucose or lactose.

Centenary gourmet  restaurant and delicatessen in a historic XV century building, well-known by their wide range of wines and gourmet food.

A Taste of Zaragoza

10:00 · Visit to Grandes Vinos

We will discover the very old PDO Cariñena, whose wines are known as “El Vino de las Piedras”, and the secrets of the Garnacha and Cariñena grape varieties.

Cariñena – the only variety in the world that takes its name from its birthplace and shares it with its Denomination of Origin – and Garnacha are the flagship varieties, in an environment that unites history and avant-garde like few other places.

Its premium brand ANAYÓN, present in select restaurants and hotels around the world, represents the detail in the selection process of the winery’s vineyards, unique for their soil conditions, climate, altitudes, vine conditions and ages of their varieties.

14:00 · Showcooking and lunch at Mercado Central with the chef Antonio Palacio

Located in the center of Zaragoza, it is a tourist and gastronomic attraction worth visiting. It is one of the few remaining examples of early 20th-century modernist Spanish market architecture. During the day, you’ll find a modern, lively market, full of regional produce.

16:30 · Guided tour around Zaragoza

We will visit the old-city center of Zaragoza, visiting the colossal Basílica del Pilar, the Stone Bridge, La ”Seo” Cathedral and Mercado Central (Central Market) to visit the market stalls, among others.

20:30 · Dinner at Restaurant Mestiso (optional)

We will have dinner at Restaurant Mestiso at the quarter “El Tubo”, full of tapas bars and restaurants, is a nickname given because of the narrowness of its streets.
